Israel braces for imminent Iranian retaliation after high-profile deaths

Israel is preparing for a potential retaliation from Iran, which could happen within the next few hours. Some citizens have received military call-ups, leading to fierce clashes at recruitment centres. Videos have circulated online.

Israel is bracing for Iranian retaliation. Last week, as a result of two Israeli attacks in Beirut and Tehran, Hezbollah military leader Fuad Shukr and Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh were killed.

Israeli Defence Forces spokesman Daniel Hagari said that Israel is ready for the threat. Citizens are to be kept informed about the situation as it develops.

According to the American portal Axios, Iran's retaliation could happen as soon as Monday, August 5. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken reportedly conveyed this information during a meeting with the foreign ministers of G7 countries. According to Blinken, the Iranian response could be expected between August 5 and 6.

Earlier, Sky News Arabia reported, citing Western intelligence sources, that the attack might occur on August 12-13.

Let us remind that this April, tensions between Israel and Iran have already escalated. Israel reportedly attacked the Iranian consulate in Damascus. Seven members of the Revolutionary Guard Corps were killed. In response, Iran carried out the largest drone raid in history on Israel. The majority of the drones were shot down, with aircraft from the United States and Jordan participating in the defense of Israel. Many indications suggest that a similar retaliation attempt may occur.
