Instagram users who want to share their stories with as large an audience as possible at once will soon gain a new feature that will surely please them. The app will now include an option to share stories on WhatsApp, similar to what can currently be done on Facebook.

Instagram stories might soon be available for WhatsApp users. As noted by Neowin, based on a post on the X platform, the messenger's creators are working on expanding the cross-posting feature between applications. Instagram users can also automatically share their stories on Facebook (and vice versa), including for business accounts.

It is not yet known precisely how the sharing of materials will work. It is expected that when sharing a story on Instagram, the user will be offered the option to extend the story's reach and share it with the connected WhatsApp account. It is unclear if and how some platform-specific elements would work - for example, interactive stickers we know from Instagram stories.

Expanding cooperation between Meta's applications is an exciting move, especially given the ongoing work related to the planned implementation of shared chats, which is the result of decisions made by the EU. As the most significant player in the market, Meta has been obligated to create a communication platform using WhatsApp and Messenger as model applications, allowing users to communicate with each other. Recently, the first details regarding the use of encryption in this matter were published.

The idea is simple—ultimately, users of any "messenger" should be able to talk to each other without the need to install additional applications on their phones. Messengers will use a common message encryption standard and allow messages to be sent to other client applications while maintaining security. Although the platform is theoretically ready to operate, it may still take some time to launch inter-messenger conversations due to other app creators' necessary initiative and the integration process.
