Our daily diet greatly impacts our health, especially after age 40. At this stage of life, we are more susceptible to various ailments such as cancer, high blood pressure, and diabetes.

Taking care of our health and youthful appearance should lead us to limit, and preferably eliminate, highly processed foods, deep-fried dishes, and products rich in sugar, high fructose corn syrup, salt, trans fats, artificial flavour enhancers, and other preservatives from our diet.

These foods lead to artery blockage with cholesterol, intestine deposits, and increased blood pressure and sugar levels.

In our daily diet, we should pay special attention to fresh vegetables and fruits that contain plant compounds with antioxidant properties. Antioxidants protect us from the harmful effects of free radicals, reduce the risk of developing cancer cells in the body, and delay natural aging.

It is also extremely important to include products containing vitamin D and K and healthy omega-3 fatty acids in the diet. This is especially important for women going through menopause, who suffer from night sweats and hot flashes.

As we age, getting enough sleep becomes increasingly essential. Experts recommend sleeping at least seven or eight hours a night after forty. This gives our body a chance for total physical and mental regeneration, reducing our risk of cardiovascular ailments and cancer.

Additionally, it is easier to gain weight in middle age, so we should regularly monitor our body weight and strive to keep it healthy. Overweight and obese individuals are more prone to heart disease, diabetes, and other serious health issues.
