Ensuring proper hydration is essential when the heat becomes unbearable and the sun's rays pour down from the sky. A homemade lemonade with a unique flavour can tempt you to take a sip.

Some people prefer it sweet, adding more sugar or honey, while others prefer a sour version, saying it refreshes even more. Lemonade has been famous for years, confidently competing with sodas on restaurant menus. Making it at home is simple, and you don't have to limit yourself to just lemons.

How to make lemonade?

The first mention of a drink resembling lemonade comes from Egypt over a thousand years ago. Ancient Egyptians combined lemons with dates and honey. Over time, lemonade conquered the world, becoming one of the most popular drinks.

Making homemade lemonade is simple. You only need a few essential ingredients: lemons, sugar, water, and a bit of imagination. You can experiment with different fruits, herbs, and additives. Instead of plain water, you can also opt for sparkling water. Sugar, honey, erythritol, or xylitol work well as sweeteners.

It's worth adding sugar to the lemonade gradually, adjusting the sweetness to individual preferences.

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams of rhubarb,
  • 1 cup of sugar,
  • 1 litre of water
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • A sprig of mint for garnish

Preparation:

  1. Wash the rhubarb, cut it into smaller pieces, and put it in a pot.
  2. Add sugar and water to the rhubarb. Cook over medium heat until the rhubarb softens and the sugar dissolves.
  3. Strain the hot mixture through a sieve to remove the pieces of rhubarb.
  4. Cool, then add the juice of two lemons.
  5. Pour the lemonade into a pitcher and chill in the refrigerator.
  6. Before serving, add ice and a sprig of mint to the glasses.

Homemade rhubarb lemonade tastes simply fantastic. It's the best way to refresh yourself in the summer.
