Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson fell victim to burglars. The criminals broke into their property in Los Angeles.

The previously peaceful haven for the rich and famous seems no longer a safe sanctuary. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are the latest individuals on the list of burglary gang victims. According to TMZ, the criminals broke into the Hanks' property, smashed a window in the guesthouse, and broke in. Not even the alarm stopped them. Fortunately, they didn't make it to the main house. As you can probably guess, the famous acting couple has a huge plot of land with several properties.

The intruders were not deterred even by the blaring alarm. What was stolen? According to TMZ's sources, Hanks and Wilson must review their belongings and check what is missing.

Series of thefts in the haven of the rich and famous

As reported by TMZ, the recent incident at the property of the on-screen Forrest Gump is another in a series of incidents occurring in the Los Angeles area, which previously was a haven of safety for the rich and famous. Recently, it happened to Sarah Hyland, known from the series Modern Family. Like Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, she was not present during the burglary. But as you can learn from American services, some of the burglary victims were tied up by the attackers.

The actor and actress own several properties. For example, they have an estate in Pacific Palisades with five bedrooms and an ocean view. It's worth CAD 35 million.

The 1990s were the peak of Tom Hanks' success. In 1994, he starred in the film "Forrest Gump," for which he received his second Oscar. A year earlier, Hanks won his first statuette for his role in the film "Philadelphia," where he portrayed a lawyer fighting AIDS. The following years brought him roles in hits like "Cast Away," "You've Got Mail," and "Saving Private Ryan," which solidified his position as one of the best actors of his generation.
