Shocking scenes unfolded over the past weekend in Canada. Left winger Vincent Arseneau suffered a severe injury after a fight with Syracuse Crunch player Kale Kessy.
The referees had to separate the players before they fell onto the ice. After stepping in, it became apparent that one of Arseneau's fingers was unnaturally bent.
Without losing his composure, the 32-year-old Canadian adjusted his finger while heading to the penalty box. Despite attempts to return to the game, he did not make it back onto the ice. His team ultimately won the game 5-2.
Arseneau also missed Saturday's rematch between the teams, in which the Laval Rocket won 1-0. The event generated huge emotions on social media.
On the X platform, one fan wrote: "This is a real hockey player." Another added, "Say you're a hockey player without saying you're a hockey player." Another commented: "I didn't need to see that."
His finger bent. What about his health?
The Laval Rocket is preparing for the upcoming weekend matches. They will face the Utica Comets at home on Friday, and the next day away. It is still unknown whether Arseneau will return to the ice for these games.
