Streaming platforms regularly offer their (potential) subscribers vast new content. Each month, similar lists of titles appear, but finding true cinematic treasures can be rare. HBO Max is presenting exactly such a gem.

The service has generated buzz due to the anticipated change from HBO Max to a "shorter version" named Max. This updated version will premiere on Tuesday, June 11, at 8:00 AM Eastern Time, and soon after, it will showcase the second season of the popular series "House of the Dragon," set in the "Game of Thrones" universe. Later that month, viewers will have the opportunity to explore significant documentaries: "King of Zanzibar" about Wojciech Żabiński's scams and "Hope" by Martyna Wojciechowska, which delves into a disheartening Nigerian fraud scheme.

Yet, May still has much in store for us, with its second half packed with exciting content. Awaiting us are the final episodes of "Young Sheldon" (a spinoff of "The Big Bang Theory"), the second season of "Cursed," the outstanding "The Sympathizer" featuring Robert Downey Jr., and the third installment of "The Cleaning Lady." Additionally, "Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin" is just beginning. However, it's essential to highlight one more title.

One of the best war movies of all time. You need to see this

Interestingly, you don't have to wait to watch "Hope and Glory" by John Boorman; the film has been accessible on the platform since May 8. Set in London during World War II, the movie portrays the harrowing yet intriguing daily life amidst constant bombings from the perspective of a young boy.
For him, the situation is both thrilling and horrifying. Despite his relatives not sharing his enthusiasm for the air raids, their desire to persevere strengthens their family bond. Not even his sister falling in love with a Canadian pilot, which completely transforms her world, can hamper this unity.

Released in 1987, "Hope and Glory" received five Oscar nominations, clinched a Golden Globe for Best Comedy or Musical, and earned a BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress, awarded to Susan Wooldridge. The talented cast also includes Jean-Marc Barr, Sammi Davis, David Hayman, Sarah Miles, and Sebastian Rice-Edwards. Esteemed filmmaker John Boorman ("Escape from Alcatraz," "The Exorcist II: The Heretic," Excalibur," and "The General") is at the helm for scripting and direction.
