How to make mushroom dumplings?
Chicken soup is the king of Sunday dinners. In some homes, it is eaten at least once a week. It is usually served with noodles, but it tastes best with soft, fluffy dumplings that were once so often prepared by our grandmothers.
How to make them? It's astonishingly simple. Just mix flour, eggs, and a pinch of salt, then pour the prepared mixture into boiling water and cook until they float to the surface. In practice, this takes about five minutes.
This is a basic recipe that can be freely modified. Enriching it with fresh herbs (e.g., rosemary, basil) or mushrooms is worth enriching. How to make mushroom dumplings? You can use both fresh and dried mushrooms. Fresh ones need to be sautéed and then blended into a smooth paste. Dried ones can be ground into a powder in a food processor or coffee grinder. The remnants of the mushroom powder can be used as a seasoning, e.g., for sauces, salads, or sandwiches.
Ingredients:
- 90 ml of wheat flour,
- 2 eggs,
- 15 ml of cream or yogurt,
- 5 dried mushrooms (or 3 fresh ones),
- salt,
- pepper.
Preparation:
- Chop the mushrooms into small pieces, put them in the food processor, and grind them into a fine powder.
- Get a mixing bowl. Add the mushroom powder, a pinch of salt, a pinch of pepper, eggs, cream, and flour. Mix everything thoroughly.
- Boil water. When it starts boiling, add the mixture one tablespoon at a time. Cook them for an additional minute after they rise to the surface.
- Transfer the ready dumplings to a bowl. Serve with your favourite soup.
Tip:
Are you using fresh mushrooms? Sauté them in a pan with butter. Once softened, blend them into a smooth paste and add them to the prepared mixture.
