The media had been suggesting for some time that Duchess Kate might not appear at the upcoming Colonel's Review, the final rehearsal before the Trooping the Colour parade. It turns out that the wife of Prince William will indeed not participate due to her health condition.
Duchess Kate broke her silence. A special letter was posted online
Interestingly, the Duchess decided to personally address the matter. On Tuesday afternoon, a post appeared on the Irish Guards' profile revealing the contents of a letter sent to them on behalf of Kate Middleton. The post included photos showing the message sent by William's wife.
The Irish Guards were deeply touched to receive a letter from our Colonel, Her Royal Highness, The Princess of Wales, this morning. We continue to wish Her Royal Highness well in her recovery and send Her our very best wishes - it read.
Notably, the media focused on words found in the letter. The Duchess mentioned that she "does hope she can represent them all again soon."
I wanted to write to let you know how proud I am of the entire regiment ahead of the Colonel's Review and Trooping the Colour. I appreciate everyone Trooping this year has been practising for months, and dedicating many hours to ensure their uniforms and drill are immaculate. Being your Colonel remains a great honour, and I am very sorry that I am unable to take the salute at this year's Colonel Review. Please pass my apologies to the whole Regiment, however, I do hope I can represent you all again soon. Please send my very best wishes and good luck to all involved - it was conveyed in the letter.
