"The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening. Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery," Buckingham Palace said.
The statement added that the King "has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery."
Princess Anne's accident
The cause of the injury has not been confirmed, but according to the BBC, it is likely that Princess Anne was hit by a horse either with its head or leg.
The 73-year-old Anne is the hardest-working member of the royal family and consistently ranks among the most popular. Later this week, she was scheduled to begin a visit to Canada.
