Soccer is one of the world's most popular sports. It is loved in every corner of our planet. However, there are places where it is treated almost like a religion. These include the countries of South America. Ronaldo, Messi, Pelé, Suárez, and Cavani are like gods to these southern people, miraculously walking on the same earth.
Fans from South America experience every match as if it were their last. During games, heart attacks or strokes often occur. Everyone is accustomed to this; arguments or fights don't surprise anyone. However, no one expected that a weapon would be used after a match and that a player from one of the clubs would become the victim of the brawl. This is what happened in Brazil after a club game.
A Brazilian club player shot on the field
The police responsible for safety during Brazilian league games decided they wanted to be discussed worldwide. After the Centro Oeste club's away victory against Grêmio Anápolis 2-1, a verbal exchange and shoving match occurred between two players. Fans were shouting, supporting their athletes. Suddenly, a uniformed officer entered the pitch to calm the situation. What he decided to do shocked everyone at the stadium. He stood between the players, then shot one of them.
"A horrible, unbelievable and criminal act by someone who should value the safety and integrity of the people, who were there at the Jonas Duarte Stadium. July 10 is marked by a violent, dirty and horrible act against one of our players, which will never be forgotten. The GEA informs that it will take competent measures, so that the responsible person is punished and that justice is done, so that this CRIMINAL act does not go unpunished," reads the statement from Grêmio Anápolis.
The club informed the media that the player was not at risk of leg amputation. The police have decided to launch an investigation into the matter.
