The world of American politics is full of surprising twists and turns. Just a week ago, all the international media were reporting on a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, during which Donald Trump was shot in the ear. His patriotic stance and turning this shocking event into a success have greatly boosted support, bringing him considerably closer to winning the 60th presidential election in the United States.
Everything pointed to his main opponent, the current officeholder, Joe Biden. Despite massive support from many influential people, doubts about the 81-year-old's future career emerged over time. The Democrat representative had recently seemed lost, which was painfully exposed by the June debate in which he participated.
Joe Biden has withdrawn from the presidential race
The sitting president eventually succumbed to the advice of his advisors and the growing number of voices of discontent from his fellow citizens. This evening, he announced his decision to withdraw from the presidential race via the X platform at 8:00 PM Eastern Time.
It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term - Joe Biden stated.
The politician's announcement received an immediate reaction from his wife. Jill Biden shared her husband's post on her profile, adding two heart emojis.
