Many reports from Russian media or representatives of the authorities are elements of propaganda. Such reports are part of the informational warfare conducted by the Russian Federation.

As part of the staff exercises of the United Command of the Regional Group of Forces (RGF) in Belarus, the forces of both countries are focusing on enhancing the defensive capabilities of the Union State, which Belarus and Russia form.

The main theme of these exercises is the decision-making process regarding the use of the RGF to ensure the security of the Union State.

"From January 14th to 16th, at stationary command posts, representatives of the armed forces of Belarus and Russia will work out one of the scenarios for the use of military groups during joint actions," it was emphasized.

Preparations for the Zapad-2025 manoeuvres

The Belarusian Ministry of Defence emphasizes that the current exercises are a key element in the preparations for the joint Zapad-2025 manoeuvres. These exercises aim to strengthen military cooperation between Belarus and Russia.

The Regional Group of Forces was formally established in October 2022 by Alexander Lukashenko, in response to Russia's aggression towards Ukraine and concerns about the possible reuse of Belarusian territory for an attack on Ukraine.
