The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, demanded compensation from Russia for the Azerbaijan Airlines aircraft that crashed on Wednesday in Kazakhstan. According to the APA agency, Aliyev emphasized that Russia must apologize to Azerbaijan, admit guilt, punish those responsible, and pay compensation to both the Azerbaijani state and the victims of the tragedy.

Conditions of Azerbaijan

- These are our conditions. The first of these was fulfilled yesterday. I hope the other conditions will also be accepted - added Aliyev.

The Azerbaijan Airlines aircraft was damaged due to ground fire from Russian territory, President Ilham Aliyev stated on Sunday, as quoted by the Azerbaijani news agency APA.

The plane was en route from the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, to Grozny in Chechnya when it veered off course and crashed in Kazakhstan. Most passengers were Azerbaijani citizens, but there were also 16 Russians along with several citizens of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan on board.

The crash of the Embraer-190 in Kazakhstan has caused international tensions. President Aliyev expressed hope that Russia would meet all the conditions set by Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijani authorities expect Russia to take appropriate steps to provide compensation for the tragedy.
