According to information reported by the BBC, the infant sustained severe burns to the face and limbs. Due to the injuries, the 33-year-old perpetrator is wanted for causing grievous bodily harm, which carries a potential life sentence.

Australian police determined that six days after the incident, the suspect flew out of the country from Sydney Airport, 12 hours after investigators identified him. Australian police have contacted police in other countries, hoping to capture the attacker.

Australians are searching for the 33-year-old. Who is the attacker?

The Australian police do not disclose the suspect's name because they believe doing so may significantly hinder the investigation. However, officers indicated they knew the country the 33-year-old travelled to.

The man is an "itinerant" worker who has travelled to Australia multiple times since 2019 and has been registered in New South Wales and Victoria (two Australian states). Inspector Paul Dalton, who provided information to the media about the incident, admitted that the suspect's motives are unknown. He stated it is one of the "most complicated and frustrating" cases he has ever handled.

The parents of the injured child told the media they were "devastated" upon learning that the suspect had left the country, but they also felt relieved that he was no longer there. It is known that the infant underwent skin graft surgery and will require additional procedures. An online fundraiser collected $203,000 CAD for the child's treatment.
