The incident took place late in the evening. Police officers patrolling Auckland Airport noticed a woman attempting to leave the store with a cart of unpaid items.

The woman was arrested

- It is alleged there was over $1400 worth of items in the trolley and that she was also in possession of a weapon – said senior sergeant Pickering. - Our staff responded quickly to the scene and arrested the woman, who is also alleged to have been breaching her bail conditions - he explained. Moreover, she also did not meet the conditions qualifying her for bail release.

Police officers reported that the woman also attacked a staff member with a fake weapon. The store employee sustained minor injuries as a result of the attack.

- Over recent months, police have two marked vehicles in and around the retail centre, which assists us with the prevention of these types of incidents in the area. - explained Pickering.
