Advancing Ukrainian forces threaten key cities in Kursk region

Ukrainian armed forces are attacking the Kursk region and capturing more territories. The army is also approaching the cities of Lgov and Kurchatov. Even Russian media are aware of the significant progress of the Ukrainian forces. They are writing about the "high speed" of their actions.

Many of the reports conveyed by Russian media and government representatives are probably not true. Such reports may be part of an information war by the Russian Federation.

Portal 24krasnodar.ru reports on the progress of the Ukrainian offensive in the Russian Kursk region. The article's authors write outright that the Ukrainians are capturing more square kilometres of land, and the progress of military actions is truly impressive.

According to data from Russian officers, the Ukrainians are approaching important cities in Russia. They are about 15 kilometres from Lgov and 30 kilometres from Kurchatov. Although the size of these cities is small (they do not exceed 40,000 inhabitants), they are essential from the perspective of Russian authorities.

Russian blogger and correspondent Mikhail Zvinchuk, known as Rybar, commented on the Ukrainian military attack. He confirms that within a few days, the Ukrainian army penetrated 30 kilometres into Russia.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are moving at high speed, bypassing Russian army resistance zones located along undulating (parallel to the front line) roads. In the south, Ukrainian formations entered Martynovka and fought with the local units. Simultaneously, battles were ongoing at the entrance to Koroneva, and there were attempts to seize Olgovka and Kremen - writes Rybar.

Interestingly, according to Russian bloggers, "Ukrainian soldiers have started using uniforms of Russian military personnel and civilian medical transport to take positions and checkpoints of the Russian Armed Forces".

In Kurchatov, there is the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant. It is a strategic energy facility that supplies more than 90 percent of the industry in the Kursk region and over 50 percent for the Central Black Earth Region. These are areas extremely important from the perspective of the Russian economy.

Does Ukraine want to capture the area around the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant? According to Russian war correspondents, it is very likely.

At this moment, it is too early to talk about the threat of the enemy capturing the strategic facility. Nevertheless, the situation is alarming - write employees of Russian propaganda media.

The Russians admit that they were not prepared for such a scale of the Ukrainian attack. The offensive, moreover, is gaining more and more magnitude. According to military correspondent Yuri Kotenok, the Russian army may have a problem with "fragmenting units" and lacking the required number of forces to repel the attack.
