Weeds on patio slabs and paving stones can be a real nuisance. They seem to increase rapidly, especially after rain. Wondering how to eliminate weeds from patio tiles? Combine three simple ingredients with water for a spotless and weed-free surface.

With the balcony season just around the corner, it's the perfect time to tackle terrace cleaning. The long winter months can leave patio tiles looking less than stellar; they become grimy and mossy, and weeds start to emerge from the cracks. If you aim to restore your tiles to their pristine condition, a mixture of three key ingredients will do the trick. The weeds will vanish, and your surface will gleam once more.

How to eliminate balcony weeds?

Weeds are a persistent issue for gardeners everywhere. They invade lawns, flower beds, terraces, and balconies, flourishing in dark, moist conditions. These hardy plants often reappear even after removal.

To get rid of weeds from the terrace, start with a comprehensive clean-up. Use a stiff brush to thoroughly clean the patio tiles, paying extra attention to the grout where weeds and moss are most likely to grow. After clearing the debris, prepare a homemade solution to eradicate all dirt and unwanted growth traces.

You'll need water, baking soda, and potash soap. In a bucket, combine approximately 10 litres of hot water with a packet of baking soda and approximately 75 ml of potash soap. Apply this mixture to the patio tiles, scrubbing it with a stiff brush, and allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes. Subsequently, rinse the tiles with clean water and let them dry.

The combination of baking soda and potash soap not only eliminates moss and weed seeds but also thoroughly cleanses the tiles. This method is also effective for driveways made of paving stones or concrete. Applying this treatment monthly will keep your surfaces weed-free for the long haul.

Spray this in the grouts and say goodbye to weeds

Maintaining a routine cleaning schedule for patio tiles is crucial for preventing weed regrowth. However, even with regular cleaning, weeds can return after damp and chilly weather. That's when it's time to use more potent solutions.

To remove weeds homemade, create a spray using two everyday household items: water and vinegar. Mix them in a 1:1 ratio, pour them into a spray bottle, and apply the solution to the affected areas. Let it sit for 15-30 minutes, then scrub the grouts with a stiff brush. This will keep weeds at bay.
