Zelensky urges NATO membership as key to enduring peace

Volodymyr Zelensky indicated that the United States, Ukraine, and Russia are key players in peace negotiations. In an interview with the Associated Press, he emphasized that lasting peace is unlikely without Ukraine's membership in NATO. He also discussed the financial support Ukraine was expected to receive from the United States.

In his interview with the Associated Press, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the critical roles of the United States, Ukraine, and Russia in peace talks. He added that the European Union should also have a voice at the negotiating table. Zelensky noted that a lasting peace will not be achievable without Ukraine becoming a NATO member.

Zelensky believes that Russia is not interested in ceasefire discussions and stresses that concessions from the Kremlin are not an option. The Ukrainian president believes that Donald Trump could persuade Vladimir Putin to negotiate by threatening sanctions and offering military support to Ukraine.

The President of Ukraine also addressed a proposal to deploy European forces in Ukraine as a deterrent to Russia. Zelensky emphasized that without security guarantees from allies, any agreement with Russia would only serve as a precursor to future aggression. He pointed out that Ukraine's membership in NATO is the most cost-effective security guarantee.

Surprising words from Zelensky

Zelensky made surprising comments regarding financial aid from the United States. He denied claims that the U.S. provided Ukraine with 177 billion CAD during the conflict. He stated that Kyiv received only 75 billion CAD. "I'm not sure where all that money is," he mentioned in the interview with the Associated Press.
