"Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet in Downing Street on Saturday afternoon," a spokeswoman for the office of the British head of government announced. The meeting will occur the day before a summit of several European leaders concerning Ukraine.

Zelensky's visit to London follows unsuccessful talks with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington. In London, a meeting of European leaders with the Ukrainian President will also take place.

The high stakes of the London meeting

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has invited several European leaders to the meeting. The talks will also involve NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and European Council President Antonio Costa. The BBC highlights that, in the context of the failed negotiations in Washington, the stakes of the London meeting are "colossal."

The Downing Street meeting aims to discuss further actions regarding the situation in Ukraine. Zelensky's visit to London is a significant part of international efforts to support Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict.
