Yamaha unveils new R1 Race and GYTR models for track use

The Japanese manufacturer has just revealed refreshed versions of the R1 in both Race and GYTR editions. Although both variants are intriguing, they are unfortunately intended for track use only.

The street-legal R1 will be available in the American market, but it will only be a dream in Europe. However, this does not mean the model will completely disappear from the market. Customers will have at least two track variants to choose from.

The refreshed R1 for the United States features aerodynamic carbon fibre wings, efficient brakes with Brembo Stylema callipers, a fully adjustable KYB fork, and a new seat cover designed to provide better grip.

The European version is almost identical, with the main difference being the lack of street homologation and the "Race" nickname. Customers from the old continent seeking excitement can also opt for the sharper GYTR version, a race-ready machine.

Yamaha boasts that the GYTR meets FIM requirements for the Superstock 1000 class. The machine is equipped with a configurable control computer, an Akrapovič exhaust system, fibreglass fairings, and 15/42 sprockets.

It is worth mentioning that you can buy the Race version at any Yamaha dealership. The GYTR variant, on the other hand, will only be offered at special GYTR Pro Shop locations. Both options should be available in dealerships in November 2024.
