Ukrainian drones hit oil depot near Anapa, intensifying fuel crisis in Russia
This is another strike on the Russian fuel infrastructure. This time, Ukrainian drones attacked an oil depot near Anapa. According to Russian media reports, a fire broke out in two different parts of the oil depot. The attacks aim to disrupt fuel supplies to the front.
Ukraine has carried out another attack on Russian fuel depots. During the night, drones targeted oil tanks near Anapa, causing a fire, as reported by Kommersant.
According to the operational command of the Krasnodar Territory, the attack damaged several oil tanks. However, there were no casualties.
Official reports indicate that six UAV drones were shot down, some of which, however, landed in the oil depot area.
Telegram channels published a video of the fire, showing that it broke out in two parts of the oil depot.
Ukraine destroys infrastructure
Ukrainian drones are targeting the fuel infrastructure to disrupt supplies to the front. Ukraine is causing another fuel crisis in Russia.
According to various estimates, the strikes on the refineries have cut refining capacity by about 4% to even 7%. Meanwhile, fuel prices have surged by 25%. The Kremlin already had to limit fuel sales to external markets to ensure sufficient supply for domestic needs.
Reuters estimated that the processing capabilities of Russian refineries, taken offline in the first quarter of 2024 due to drone attacks, amounted to about 4.6 million metric tons of crude oil (roughly 32.4 million barrels)
