Ukraine unveils 'Trident': Advanced laser weaponry gains altitude
Colonel Vadym Sucharevskyi reports that Ukraine possesses a modern laser weapon called Trident, which can shoot down aircraft at altitudes over 1.6 kilometres.
Ukraine has introduced an innovative laser weapon called Trident, which can shoot down aircraft at altitudes exceeding 1.6 kilometres. Colonel Vadym Sucharevskyi, commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, provided this information.
"We can state that today Ukraine is, if I’m not mistaken, the fifth country that can say it has a laser weapon. Today, with this laser, we can shoot down aircraft at altitudes over 1.6 kilometres," said Sucharevskyi, cited by the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
"It really exists"
The colonel emphasized that the Unmanned Systems Forces are in the process of scaling and strengthening the laser. "It really works, it really exists," he noted. He added that mother drones, FPV carriers, are currently used, and they can deliver payloads over a distance of more than 69 kilometres, acting as amplifiers and striking deep-seated enemy targets.
Sucharevskyi noted that the Unmanned Systems Forces have existed for less than six months, and combat and scientific units have already been established, encompassing air, land, and water components. Scaling the "Trident" project is one of the most promising elements of their work.
