An unexpected situation occurred during the joint appearance of U.S. President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. At the press conference, a journalist asked Starmer about Trump's alleged plans to annex Canada. Prime Minister Starmer emphasized that discussions with the U.S. president mainly focused on trade cooperation and security in Ukraine.
Trump interrupted Starmer
Starmer noted that Canada was not discussed, and the relations between the U.S. and the United Kingdom are very close. At this point, Trump interrupted the prime minister and said, "That's enough," suggesting they move on to the next question. This gesture sparked reactions among users online, who speculated that the president was trying to silence the British prime minister on Canada.
"Fake News. President Trump was clearly talking to the reporter trying to goad the leaders into division" - it was stated in the announcement.
Trump and Starmer also discussed trade issues, and Trump wanted to sign a trade agreement between the countries. However, the American president suggested that the United Kingdom might not avoid tariffs, even though Starmer was doing a "great job" trying to dissuade him from that.
The British prime minister handed Donald Trump a letter from King Charles with an invitation to visit the United Kingdom for a second state visit, something that "has never happened before." Trump accepted the invitation.
