Trump reignites debate over Canada as potential 51st state

Donald Trump has once again expressed his desire for Canada to become the 51st state of the USA. "I would like Canada to become our 51st state. We provide them with military protection," said the former president.

"I would like Canada to become our 51st state. We provide them with military protection," Donald Trump reiterated.

"We don't need them to build our cars. I would prefer Detroit, South Carolina, or any of our states, like Tennessee, to manufacture cars. They could do it without any problem. We don't need them for car production. We don't need them for lumber. We don't need them for anything. We don't need their energy. We have more energy than they do," said the former president.

Trump on the annexation of Canada

This is yet another instance where Donald Trump publicly discusses the idea of annexing Canada to the USA.

"We pay hundreds of billions of dollars to subsidize Canada. Why? There’s no reason. We don’t need anything they have. We have unlimited energy, we should produce our own cars, and we have more lumber than we will ever need," declared Trump on Sunday at 11:00 AM ET in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.

"Without this massive subsidy, Canada ceases to exist as a country capable of survival. Brutal, but true! That’s why Canada should become our beloved 51st state," he added.

"Many people in Canada want to become the 51st state of the USA," Donald Trump claimed even before assuming the presidency, commenting on Justin Trudeau’s decision to resign as prime minister. "Canada and the USA together, what a wonderful nation that would be," he remarked.
