In the latest interview with NBC, Donald Trump reiterated that the priority in the first weeks of his presidency will be the "largest deportation operation in American history." He informed that his team is already in talks with private sector companies regarding the preparation for the deportation of more than 11 million illegal immigrants. When asked about the cost of this operation, Trump stated that the price does not matter.

"We have no choice. When people have killed and murdered, when drug lords have destroyed countries, and now they're going to go back to those countries because they’re not staying here. There is no price tag," said Trump, quoted by NBC.

CNN points out that the former head of the immigration department, Tom Homan, could take on one of the key roles related to migration issues. In a recent interview with CBS, Homan assured that the plans include "targeted arrests."

"They’ll be targeted arrests. We’ll know who we’re going to arrest, where we’re most likely to find ‘em based on numerous, you know, investigative processes," announced Homan.

"Shock" in US immigration policy

CNN emphasizes that the Department of Homeland Security will handle the deportations. The portal writes, "Shell shocked among the political."

The average cost of transporting one migrant to their country of origin is nearly CAD 2,700. In addition, there are costs associated with locating, detaining, and verifying such a person. The logistics cost for just one person ranged around CAD 14,800.
