As reported on Thursday by the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, in the morning hours (Eastern Time), Russian drones violated Moldovan airspace. A similar incident was also reported on that day by the Romanian Ministry of Defence.

Sandu announced on social media that several Russian drones had violated Moldovan airspace, and two of them exploded on Moldovan territory. She accompanied her post with a photo of a destroyed drone fragment and emphasized that this is yet another such incident in recent months.

In mid-October last year, the authorities in Chisinau reported—while informing at that time about missile debris found near the border with Ukraine—that it was the fifth incident since February 2022, when remnants of missiles and other military equipment were found on Moldovan territory. This summary did not include the overflight of foreign missiles over Moldovan territory.

Violation of Moldovan airspace. Russian ambassador summoned

As reported by the portal jurnal.md on Thursday, due to the serious violation of Moldovan airspace by Russian drones, the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs urgently summoned the Russian ambassador to Moldova, Oleg Ozerov.

The Moldovan side also expressed strong protest against such actions. The portal conveys that the Russian diplomat was informed that these actions constituted a violation of the country's sovereignty and are another unfriendly gesture from the Russian Federation.

It was also decided to show the ambassador parts of drones found on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. The politician found them arranged in front of him on the table. A recording shared online captured his initial reaction.
