Epanomi is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Greece. This small town near Thessaloniki impresses with kilometres of sandy beaches and is also a paradise for people who love diving.

The natural attraction is the shipwreck, which is located near the coast. Diving sessions occur there, allowing participants to look inside while exploring underwater. One of these events ended tragically.

Greek authorities reported the death of a 33-year-old tourist from the United Kingdom who was on board an abandoned wreck. They say the diver was there when weather conditions significantly deteriorated. The rough sea suddenly made it difficult for the man to return to shore.

Although a rescue boat and an ambulance were immediately called to the scene of the tragedy, another swimmer pulled the 33-year-old from the water. The unconscious diver was resuscitated at the scene, but the efforts of the rescue services were unsuccessful, according to greekcitytimes.com.

The port authority in Michaniona is investigating the tragic accident involving the tourist. Meanwhile, the prosecutor's office is awaiting the results of an autopsy that will be performed.
