The would-be attacker's neighbour, Dan Maloney, told the "New York Post" that he saw a squad preparing to enter the house shortly after 2:00 AM. The 30-year-old stated that he did not personally know the attacker and that neighbours in this area rarely talk to each other.
Assassination attempt on Trump. The attacker's father is in shock
According to the "New York Post," the father of 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks said that he is trying to understand "what the hell is going on," as his son was identified as the assailant who attempted to kill former President Trump.
Matthew Crooks did not want to provide details about his son and stated in an interview with CNN that he would "wait until I talk to law enforcement" before commenting on the incident.
The suspected attacker was shot after he opened fire at the rally for former President Donald Trump. According to authorities, Crooks positioned himself on the roof of a manufacturing plant over 130 metres from the stage. He was a registered Republican, but in 2021, he donated $15 to the Progressive Turnout Project, a political action committee associated with Democrats. Crooks lived in Bethel Park, about 70 kilometres south of the shooting site.
