Spain urges neutrality as Elon Musk stirs European politics

Spain's government spokeswoman, Pilar Alegria, stressed during a press conference that these platforms should function in absolute neutrality and without interference. She also underscored Spain's alignment with the European Commission's stance on the matter.
On Monday, the spokesperson for the European Commission, Thomas Regnier, reminded everyone about the EU Digital Services Act (DSA), which establishes rules for content moderation on online platforms. According to it, platforms must respond to potential threats to electoral processes in the European Union.
Controversies around Elon Musk
The spokeswoman for the Spanish government also addressed recent controversies involving the owner of platform X. Elon Musk, a well-known billionaire and close associate of Donald Trump, is increasingly involved in European politics. Recently, he called the Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, a "fool" and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier an "anti-democratic tyrant." He supported the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party and urged King Charles III to dissolve the British Parliament.
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, accused Musk of "spreading lies" about the situation in the country. The Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Stoere, expressed concerns that Musk's involvement in other countries' affairs could undermine trust among Western allies. The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, stated that Trump's associate supports a new "international of reactionaries" and interferes in political processes in Europe.
