Parmesan, also known as Parmigiano Reggiano, is the most famous Italian hard cheese. However, many people may wonder how to open it correctly. Here is a method to keep the cheese fresher for longer.

One TikTok user, @throwback_pasta, posted a video demonstrating a simple way to open Parmesan properly. "You've been opening Parmesan the wrong way your whole life," states user @throwback_pasta on TikTok.

How to open Parmesan correctly?

Instead of tearing the top of the package or cutting the foil randomly, the video suggests an alternative solution. Simply cut a piece of the package from the side where you plan to slice the cheese.

After cutting the desired amount of Parmesan, slide the remaining piece of foil back into the original packaging. This way, the foil will fit tightly to the cheese, preventing it from drying out. "Put it in the fridge like this," the user concludes.

"I never thought of that"

The video quickly gained popularity on the internet. Some viewers admitted that it's a very useful method. "You learn something new every day," wrote one user. "I never thought of that, thanks," added another.

There were also humorous comments. "Under these rules, I can only open cottage cheese, not Parmesan," stated one commenter. "I'm so hopeless that I can't even open Parmesan properly, thanks," commented another user.
