Southport tragedy: Rudakubana pleads guilty to child murders
Axel Rudakubana, an 18-year-old accused of murdering three children in Southport, has pleaded guilty. According to "The Guardian," the verdict is expected on Thursday, and the 18-year-old is likely to be sentenced to life imprisonment. These tragic events took place last July during dance and yoga classes.
Axel Rudakubana, an 18-year-old from Wales, admitted to the murder of three girls in Southport.
The crime occurred last July in the city of Southport, located in northwestern England, during dance and yoga sessions. Rudakubana, armed with a knife, attacked the class participants.
A witness at the time reported seeing bloodied children running out of the community centre.
Three children died, and eight others were injured. The victims were girls aged six, seven, and nine years old.
The accused also admitted to attempting to murder 10 people and possessing materials related to terrorism. Police discovered poison and Al-Qaeda instructions at his home. The judge announced that Rudakubana will be sentenced to life imprisonment.
The murder sparked a wave of riots in the United Kingdom, especially in England and Northern Ireland. The unrest lasted over a week, and more than 1,500 people were arrested. "The Guardian" reports that Rudakubana was fascinated by genocides, which may have influenced his actions.
