Much of the information provided by Russian media or government representatives is part of their propaganda efforts. Such reports are elements of the information war conducted by the Russian Federation.

"Everyone is wondering what the Trump administration will promote official approaches," said Lavrov. "They clearly indicate that they understand some aspects of Russia's position, such as those concerning the prevention of Ukraine's membership in the North Atlantic Alliance," he stated.

Putin congratulates Trump

Vladimir Putin also spoke. He congratulated Donald Trump on his inauguration. He remarked that Trump and his colleagues expressed a "desire to resume direct contacts with Russia" and emphasized the "necessity to do everything to prevent World War III"; however, he did not provide details.

As reported by the TASS agency, Putin mentioned that "Moscow perceives the statements of Trump and his team regarding the desire to resume dialogue with Russia". He also reiterated that "this dialogue was interrupted due to the actions of the outgoing administration of the current US President Joe Biden".
