Iced coffee has fans all over the world. The Greek version of this drink with a generous amount of foam is very well-known. Greeks sip their frappe both in the city and on the beach. We can follow their example.
Be like a barista
Iced coffee will help you survive a hot day. Enthusiasts of this black, aromatic drink probably don't need convincing. However, even those who don't drink coffee daily are happy to reach for this cold version. Barista skills are unnecessary at home, especially since iced coffee has many versions and can easily be adapted to your taste. You can stick to the simplest, minimalist one, which will still be delicious. A blender will also come in handy. See what to consider when making the best-iced coffee at home.
Remember this:
- Greeks make their frappe with instant coffee, but espresso is much more popular. Thanks to such a small black coffee, it will be intense and aromatic. However, if you don't have an espresso machine, use instant or traditionally brew strong coffee. Arabica works well, as do flavoured coffees with sweet notes, such as vanilla, chocolate, or coconut.
- If you decide to add ice cream, choose cream ice cream. Its flavour best suits coffee. When you opt for store-bought ice cream, choose those with a lot of cream in their ingredients, as it influences the taste.
- You can use milk or plant-based drinks for iced coffee, such as almond or oat milk.
- In cafés, iced coffee is often served with syrups. You can use them at home, too, but they add extra calories. And ice cream and whipped cream already have plenty.
- Whipped cream often appears on top of the dessert. To prepare it, you need cream with 30% fat. It should be well chilled.
Recipe for iced coffee
Ingredients:
- 45 millilitres of your favourite coffee,
- 90 millilitres of milk or plant-based drink,
- 2 scoops of cream ice cream,
- 3 ice cubes.
Preparation method:
- Brew the coffee and let it cool.
- Pour the milk or plant-based drink and the cold coffee into a blender. Add one scoop of vanilla ice cream and 3 ice cubes. Blend.
- Pour the drink into a tall glass. Add another scoop of ice cream and a small amount of whipped cream.
