Simple drinks for effective body detox

Each year, we absorb about 4 pounds of toxic substances. The effect? Weight problems, persistent fatigue, lack of energy, and a tendency to catch colds. How can we support our bodies in the detoxification process? By turning to drinks that can be easily prepared at home. Here are a few suggestions.

Lemon and mint water

A simple, tasty, and refreshing drink, the regular consumption of which helps cleanse the liver and improve the overall functioning of the body. Lemon aids digestion, while mint soothes the stomach and speeds up metabolism.

Add freshly squeezed lemon juice and a handful of mint leaves to water (1 quart). Mix thoroughly and chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour. Before serving, you can add a few slices of lemon. Drink it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach and throughout the day.

Kale smoothie

Kale is rich in vitamins and minerals. When combined with coconut water, which hydrates the body, and apples and bananas, which are rich in digestion-aiding fibre, you get a delicious detox drink.

Place fresh kale (2 handfuls), a chopped green apple, and a banana in a blender. Add coconut water (1 cup) and lemon juice. Blend until smooth. Drink immediately after preparation.

Ginger and turmeric tea

Ginger and turmeric have potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, which help detoxify the body and support the immune system. How to use them?

Boil water (2 cups), add freshly grated ginger (about a 1-inch piece) and turmeric (1 teaspoon), and simmer for about 10 minutes. Strain and enrich the brew with honey (1 tablespoon) and lemon juice. Drink it warm.

Cucumber and basil water

Cucumber acts as a diuretic, aiding in eliminating toxins, while basil has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. How can you make a healthy and refreshing drink from them?

The task is simple: Slice the cucumber thinly, then add it to water (1 quart) along with a few basil leaves and lime slices. Refrigerate for a few hours.

Beet and carrot smoothie

Beets support the liver and improve blood circulation, carrots provide needed beta-carotene, and apples have a cleansing effect on the digestive system. From these ingredients, we can prepare an effective detox drink.

Peel and chop a beetroot (medium-sized), 2 carrots, and an apple into smaller pieces. Then blend everything until smooth. Finally, add freshly squeezed lemon juice and mix well.

Pineapple and spinach smoothie

Pineapple contains bromelain—an enzyme that aids digestion—while spinach provides iron and other essential nutrients. How do you make a delicious smoothie from them?

Blend fresh pineapple (2-3 slices), a handful of fresh spinach leaves, a banana, and coconut water (1 cup) until smooth. Drink it immediately after preparation.

Herbal cleansing tea

In our meadows, we can find many plants with cleansing properties, supporting kidney and digestive function. Once dried, they become an excellent base for a detox drink.

Pour boiling water over horsetail (1 tablespoon), nettle (1 tablespoon), and chamomile (1 tablespoon), then let it steep for 10-15 minutes. Strain and drink the tea warm.

Aloe and citrus drink

Aloe is more than just a decorative plant for our windowsills. The gel inside its fleshy leaves soothes the digestive system, supports liver detoxification, and hydrates the body. It's worth using it to prepare a cleansing drink.

Cut a few aloe leaves (preferably from a plant that is at least 3 years old, as it reaches an optimal nutritional value at this age), remove the thorns, cut them into smaller pieces, and place them in the refrigerator for at least a day, preferably in a paper bag. Then, cut them open and scoop out the "gel" and juice. Blend half a cup of the pulp with the juice of an orange and a lemon (1 each) and water (1 cup). Drink it after chilling in the refrigerator.
