Search intensifies for missing Briton in Tenerife mountains
For 12 days now, searches have been underway for 19-year-old Jay Slater, a Briton who went missing in the mountainous region of Tenerife. The local police are appealing for help. Volunteers are encouraged to join the search operation on Saturday, June 29.
From England, Jay Slater flew to the Canary Islands with friends. The teenager last contacted his friends on Monday, June 16. He told a friend that he was lost in a remote area, needed to drink water, and had only one percent battery on his phone.
The search for the 19-year-old has been ongoing for 12 days. So far, conspiracies abound, but few concrete details have emerged. It is known that Jay's last known location was the mountainous Teno Rural Park, located in the northwestern part of the island.
According to Sky News, the police in Tenerife are appealing for help in the search. Besides the services, volunteers can also join. The entire operation will begin on Saturday, June 29 in the village of Masca. Jay was likely there when he last made contact with his friends.
Given that it's a steep, rocky area full of uneven terrain and many ravines, paths, and roads, the cooperation of all volunteers is required, informs Guardia Civil, adding that the operation must be carried out in a coordinated manner.
