Cleaning a dirty oven rack can be a headache for anyone who has ever attempted it. Detergents, intense scrubbing, and dirty hands are all too common. Fortunately, there’s a simple and less obvious method to tackle this problem — all you need is a trash bag and a few common products.

A dirty rack will no longer be a problem

To effectively clean the rack, you will need:

  • baking soda,
  • a dishwasher tablet,
  • dish soap,
  • some warm water,
  • a large trash bag.

How to prepare the cleaning solution

First, dissolve a dishwasher tablet in warm water in a bowl. Next, add four tablespoons of baking soda to the resulting solution. Mix everything until you achieve a paste-like consistency, which will serve as our cleaning agent.

Once the cleaning agent is ready, it's time to get to work. Place the oven rack into the large trash bag. Pour the prepared paste inside, ensuring it covers all the crevices of the rack. Then, close the bag and let the rack sit overnight. Afterward, take it out, rinse it thoroughly under running water, and wipe it with a cloth soaked in dish soap. This will make the rack shine like new.

Using this trick allows you to avoid the tedious scrubbing of the rack, and the results will surely surprise you. Regularly remove larger stains to keep your oven and its accessories in the best condition. This way, your kitchen will be clean and ready for any culinary challenge, not just during the holidays.
