The Russians boast about using a powerful weapon. For the first time, they reportedly struck with a 3-ton bomb. The footage appeared on the internet.

Russian forces used a variant of the new FAB-3000 M-54 bomb with a Unified Planning and Correction Module (UMPC). The target was Ukrainian positions in the Kharkiv region. Footage of the attack appeared on the internet.

According to the Institute for the Study of War, if Russian forces start using such weapons without restrictions, this represents a new Russian capability with high destructive potential.

The video shows that the Russians failed to hit the building precisely, but the explosion's force was enormous. It missed the building by about 15 metres but still caused significant damage to it.

"In the Northern Military District zone towards Kharkiv, the FAB-3000 fragmentation and demolition aerial bomb, weighing over 3 tonnes, was used for the first time," the Russians boast.

The bomb reportedly fell near the village of Lyptsy in the Kharkiv region.

The defense department reported the destruction of 114 Ukrainian drones

The Russian defence department reported that on Thursday to Friday (Eastern Time) night, the country's air defence neutralized 114 Ukrainian drones. 70 were shot down over the territory of annexed Crimea, 43 in Krasnodar Krai, and one in the Volgograd region; one person was killed, according to AFP.

In recent months, there have been frequent strikes on Russian refineries. Reuters estimated that the processing capacity of these plants in Russia, taken offline in the first quarter of 2024 due to drone raids, was about 5 million tonnes of crude oil (averaging around 370,000 barrels per day), which was equivalent to approximately 7 percent of the processing capacity of all refineries in the country.
