Russian hospitals overwhelmed as Kharkiv offensive escalates

"With the beginning of the Russian army's offensive in the Kharkiv region, hospitals in Belgorod have filled with the wounded," reports the Pepel channel. There are so many injured that beds are being placed in the corridors. There could be up to 70,000 Russians concentrated in the region.

The Pepel channel published photos of the overcrowded corridors of Belgorod hospitals in Russia. "There are so many wounded that doctors are forced to place beds with military personnel in the corridors of medical facilities. According to unconfirmed information, due to the overload of medical facilities, some are being transferred to the back of the hospital and placed in buses," it reads.

Up to 70,000 Russian soldiers

On Sunday, the British Ministry of Defense reported that Russian armed forces continue attacks on Vovchansk as part of the offensive in the northern part of the Kharkiv region that began on May 10. The town remains the object of fighting, with Ukrainian forces repelling most Russian attacks.

The American Institute for the Study of War reminds that, according to reports, about 35,000 Russian soldiers were present at the start of Russian offensive actions on May 10 in the border area, while Ukrainian sources indicated that the Russian military intended to concentrate between 50,000 and 70,000 soldiers in the region.

Russians attack Kharkiv region

On Monday, authorities in these regions reported that in the past day, five residents of the Donetsk region of Ukraine were killed, and three were injured in Russian shelling. Meanwhile, in the Kharkiv region, four civilians were killed in attacks by Russian forces.

"On May 26, the Russians killed five residents of the Donetsk region: two people in Antonivka, one in Siversk, one in Krasnohorivka, and one in Chasiv Yar. Three people were injured in the region during the day," wrote Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk military authorities.

The head of the Kharkiv region authorities, Oleh Syniehubov, reported that two men died from injuries sustained after stepping on a mine on the outskirts of the village of Ivashky.

He added that in the village of Bohuslavka, two houses were destroyed as a result of a Russian air raid, and another eight were damaged. A woman was killed, and five people, including two aged nine and 13, were injured.
