Russia targets new U.S. base in Poland amid nuclear tension
Russia claims that the American base in Redzikowo leads to "an increase in the overall level of nuclear danger" and is a "provocative step in a series of deeply destabilising actions by the Americans," Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a press conference. She emphasized that the base is on the "priority targets for potential destruction."

On Wednesday, November 13, the Aegis base was opened in Redzikowo. It is a U.S. Navy military structure under EUCOM, NATO's European command. Its task is to shield the borders of the alliance's territory from air attacks from outside the Euro-Atlantic area.
Russians threaten. "On the target list"
The launch of the facility angered the Russians. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova called it a "provocative step" by the Americans.
- This is another frankly provocative step in a series of deeply destabilising actions by the Americans and their allies in the North Atlantic Alliance in the strategic sphere - Zakharova said at a press conference.
- This leads to undermining strategic stability, increasing strategic risks and, as a result, to an increase in the overall level of nuclear danger - she stated.
- Given the nature and level of threats posed by such Western military facilities, the missile defense base in Poland has long been added to the list of priority targets for potential destruction, which, if necessary, can be executed with a wide range of advanced weapons - she stated.
Construction of the base in Redzikowo began in 2016. The facility was put into operation in December 2023, and in July 2024, the full operational readiness of the complex was announced. The official opening of the base took place on November 13.
