Just a decade ago, the idea of replacing humans with robots was considered science fiction. Today, in an era of rapid advancement in artificial intelligence and robotics, such a vision is becoming a reality. The efforts of tech giants like Boston Dynamics and others serve as evidence of this shift.
More and more companies are consistently developing humanoid machines. Consider Tesla Optimus or, the focus of this article, a robot named Figure 02. This robot is already involved in the automotive production process, performing simple manual tasks.
Figure 02 in the BMW factory - what can the robot do?
Figure 02, created by Figure AI, smoothly integrates into the BMW car production process. The humanoid robot is powered by electricity and operates efficiently for five hours, during which Figure 02 can perform up to 1,000 operations.
The machine stands at about 168 cm and weighs approximately 68 kg. Figure 02's greatest advantage is undoubtedly its agility. A display of its skills is showcased in an intriguing recording. Importantly, the footage demonstrates that the robot manufacturer focuses on both quality and quantity — one shot shows as many as three machines moving parts to designated locations.
According to "The Sun," this technology has the potential to revolutionize the manufacturing industry, bringing benefits to both companies and consumers globally.
Opportunity or threat?
Figure AI boldly claims it will deliver "millions of useful robots to companies and homes worldwide." The widespread use of such machines will undoubtedly require the market to adapt. The primary concern, often mentioned, is the uncertain future of skilled workers.
Nonetheless, the introduction of humanoid robots could also bring opportunities, as each machine requires technical support and servicing.
