Ukraine-Israel dialogue strengthens amid global tensions
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The main topics were relations with the U.S. and the situation in the Middle East.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"We also discussed maintaining close contact with partners, particularly the United States and President Trump," the Ukrainian president conveyed after the conversation.
Zelensky also informed Netanyahu about his participation in the ceremonies in Poland, related to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp. He also extended condolences to the Israeli nation concerning the tragedy of the Holocaust.
Cooperation between Israel and Ukraine
During the conversation, Zelensky expressed satisfaction with the start of the release of hostages between Israel and Hamas. He emphasized the importance of people returning home and reuniting with their families and expressed hope for the quick release of the remaining hostages. "It is crucial to ensure a reliable and lasting peace, so that people can live in safety and security," Zelensky stressed on Telegram.
The conversation topics also included current issues in Ukraine-Israel relations. Both leaders agreed to continue close contacts in the future.
Previously, the Israeli ambassador to Ukraine, Michael Brodsky, denied reports of Israel allegedly transferring captured Russian arms seized in Lebanon to authorities in Kyiv. Media speculated that Israel could send intercepted weapons to Ukraine, but Brodsky refuted these claims.
During operations in Lebanon and Syria, the Israeli army seized more than 88,000 pieces of weaponry.
