US President Donald Trump has again proposed that the residents of the Gaza Strip be relocated to Egypt and Jordan. This idea met with strong criticism from France and Albania. Albania's Prime Minister, Edi Rama, firmly denied reports from the Israeli media that his country would accept 100,000 Palestinians.

Trump first presented this plan on Saturday, suggesting that approximately 1.5 million Palestinians could be relocated temporarily or permanently to enable the reconstruction of the war-torn territory. The US President noted that he had discussed this idea with King Abdullah II of Jordan and plans to have talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

Jordan and Egypt refute Trump's claims

Diplomats from Jordan and Egypt expressed strong opposition to this solution. Similar positions were taken by the authorities of the Palestinian Authority. The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the forced relocation of Palestinians would be a serious violation of international law and an obstacle to resolving the conflict in the Middle East.

On Monday, Israeli media speculated that the Trump administration had talked to the Albanian government about relocating 100,000 Palestinians to that country. Prime Minister Rama firmly denied these reports, calling them "fake news."

American television network NBC reported that moving some residents of the Gaza Strip to Indonesia had also been considered. However, it is unclear how serious these plans were.

Trump's proposals were met with enthusiasm among far-right Israeli politicians, such as Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Jewish Strength party leader Itamar Ben Gvir. Trump's statements aimed to support Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in maintaining the backing of extreme coalition partners.

Some Israeli politicians have long called for the reorganisation of Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip. Trump's statements may be an attempt to maintain support for Netanyahu, who is struggling with pressure from coalition partners opposed to a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
