Anyone who uses an oven knows how grease and food vapours accumulate on the interior side of the door over time. When dirt cools and isn't wiped off immediately, it becomes difficult to clean the oven glass later. Dirty doors can affect not only the aesthetics but also the functionality of the appliance.
A glass oven door, if neglected for a long time, becomes harder to clean in later stages. Washing it then requires considerable effort and a lot of time. It's best to clean the oven glass after each use to prevent difficult-to-remove stains. However, if we've neglected the oven door, it's worth using clever methods to make dirt removal easier.
How to clean oven doors? Methods
The basic method, both cheap and effective, involves using baking soda and hot water. Baking soda is a readily available ingredient that excellently dissolves grease. To prepare a homemade cleaning solution, mix half a cup of baking soda with water to create a thick paste. Then, apply a thick paste layer on the door's surface and leave it for several hours. The next step is to rinse the paste off the door's surface and dry it.
Another equally effective method is using cola and dish soap. Combining these two ingredients creates a detergent with a significant amount of phosphoric acid, which helps dissolve even the toughest stains. Simply mix cola with dish soap in a 1:1 ratio and spread the mixture on the oven door. After about 15 minutes, wipe the remaining dirt off with a damp sponge.
The oven can also be effectively cleaned using a dishwasher tablet. How to do it? You'll need a heat-resistant container, a dishwasher tablet, and water. Place the dishwasher tablet in the container and fill it with water. This will create a robust solution that can handle deposits effectively. Then, place the container inside the oven, heat it to approximately 100 degrees Celsius, and leave it for about half an hour. This allows the steam, containing the detergent's active ingredients, to reach all corners of the appliance effectively. After turning off the oven, let it cool. After the whole process, open the oven and gently wipe its interior with a soft cloth.
How to keep your oven clean?
As with many daily tasks, the key to success is regularity. Cleaning the oven after each use will prevent the build-up of difficult-to-remove dirt.
A clean oven is essential for tasty and healthy dishes. Furthermore, taking care of the interior and removing food residues and burnt spots increases cooking safety. Regular cleaning not only extends the appliance's lifespan but also enhances meal flavours. By maintaining cleanliness, we avoid unpleasant odours and smoke that can occur during baking.
