Sovereign internet, reduced poverty, and a minimum wage of C$605 (about US$473) - are just some of the promises made by the President of Russia. Right after his inauguration, Vladimir Putin signed a new "May decree". The Russian portal "Meduza" reveals what future awaits Russians in six years.

On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin was sworn in for another six-year term and signed a new "May decree." This document defines the Russian Federation's national development goals for the period up to 2030 and the future up to 2036.

The decree's text was published on the Kremlin's website on the evening of May 7, shortly after the President's inauguration. The independent Russian portal "Meduza" reveals what the future awaits Russians in six years—if Vladimir Putin keeps his promises.

Higher minimum wage, less poverty

According to the document, Russia aims to rank fourth in the world in terms of GDP. The poverty level will not exceed 7% across the country, and in the case of large families, not more than 12%. According to promises, the minimum wage will be at least C$605, which translates to about US$473.

The decree indicates that the average Russian's life expectancy will increase to 78 from just over 73 in 2023. The minimum living area will be at least 33 square meters per person.

The decree states that Russian youth will believe in the possibilities of self-realization in Russia and participate in projects and programs aimed at professional, personal, and patriotic education.

An effective and fair system for identifying, supporting, and developing the abilities and talents of 100 percent (!) of children and youth will be created. Eventually, all schools and kindergartens deemed in need of repairs will be fixed by the end of 2024 - reports the portal "Meduza".

Russian airplanes and sovereign internet

What else does Putin promise? According to the signed document, citizens' satisfaction with the work of government officials, local governments, and social organizations should increase by at least 50%.

Half of the airplanes will be Russian. "Aviation mobility of the population" will increase by one and a half times compared to 2023 - informs the portal "Meduza".

A digital platform will be launched to promote the formation, maintenance, and protection of human health throughout his life. It is also indicated that network sovereignty and information security will be ensured in the internet information-telecommunication network. In authoritarian regimes, including the Russian Federation, such "internet sovereignty" allows for increased control over online information flow. Because of this, Russians are fed misinformation about the war in Ukraine.

In the decree, Putin also committed to creating conditions suitable for raising a developed, patriotic, and socially responsible personality based on traditional Russian spiritual, moral, cultural, and historical values.
