The legal committee of the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) has obligated Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to pay Kylian Mbappe 55 million euros in overdue wages. However, the management of the French club refuses to comply with this demand and is awaiting a final court ruling.

The committee's decision was announced less than a day after Mbappe rejected the proposal for mediation with his current club. PSG stated that it does not intend to pay the amount imposed by the LFP, emphasizing that this decision will necessitate legal action by the player.

In light of the LFP committee's limited legal authority to make a binding decision in this matter, it must now be brought to another jurisdiction - stated the club in a communiqué. Paris Saint-Germain intends to take legal action to defend its position.
We will not pay - added a person from the club's management in an interview with AFP.

No one can force PSG to pay the mentioned amount because Mbappe's victory in this particular case is symbolic. The LFP has no legal power, and thus the player must fight for the overdue wage payment in court.

Mbappe wants money for a contract which, according to PSG, he waived

Kylian Mbappe demands the payment of 55 million euros, which consists of the last instalment of a signing bonus amounting to 36 million euros gross, which he was supposed to receive in February, wages for the last three months of his time at PSG (from April to June), and the so-called "ethical bonus."

According to PSG representatives, Mbappe, who transferred to Real Madrid in July, waived his claim to the mentioned amount under an agreement concluded in August 2023. However, Mbappe's representatives deny that the player signed such an agreement.

Recent years of Mbappe at PSG: anguish and disappointment

The Paris club did not want to let Mbappe go for free. On the other hand, the player had been unhappy with his stay at the club, his presence on the pitch, and on the bench, and ultimately - unfulfilled transfer windows.

Therefore, even though there was still a lot of time left in the contract, it was known since February that Mbappe would leave after the 2023/2024 season. For this reason, PSG began to treat him terribly. They tarnished his image in the eyes of the fans, he played less frequently in the club's colours. Finally - he was not supposed to receive his wages for the last three months. This ultimately prompted the player to have his lawyers handle the entire matter.
