Ukrainian drones hit strategic military sites in Russia
Ukrainian drones attacked key military facilities in Russia, including the Smolensk Aviation Plant and a refinery. This information was provided by the General Staff in Kyiv.
Ukrainian drones carried out assaults on strategic targets in Russia, targeting the Smolensk Aviation Plant where combat aircraft are manufactured.
"Ukrainian forces struck the infrastructure of the Smolensk Aviation Plant in the Smolensk region of the Russian Federation, where combat aircraft are modernized and produced. Explosions were reported at the plant," stated the General Staff in Kyiv.
Attacks on refineries and oil depots
Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Centre for Counteracting Disinformation at the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, stressed the importance of the attacks on the plants in Smolensk, where Su-25 attack aircraft are produced. "Each strike on such a plant undermines Russia's capacity to maintain its aircraft in combat-ready condition," Kovalenko assessed.
In the morning report, the General Staff also mentioned an attack on the Liskinska oil depot in the Voronezh region. "As a result of the strike, tanks containing fuel and lubricants used by the occupiers to supply Russian troops have caught fire. The facility belongs to one of Russia's largest state corporations, Rosneft," it was noted.
Ukrainian media additionally reported a drone attack on a refinery in the city of Yartsevo in the Smolensk region. The Ministry of Defence in Moscow reported that air defence systems destroyed 55 Ukrainian drones. Russian Telegram channels announced the suspension of air traffic at the airports in Kazan and Ulyanovsk.
