Sporting events, evening movie sessions, and gatherings with friends have one thing in common – the sound of crunching. Chips, crisps, and nuts are popular, and in my house, so is pasta. This doesn't mean I serve a big bowl of uncooked pasta straight from the package. I turn it into delicious chips, which always attract a crowd.
Pasta chips – a simple snack idea
Pasta isn't necessarily associated with snacks, but this recipe will quickly change that. Pasta chips initially elicit surprise, which quickly turns into delight after trying them. You can use leftover pasta from lunch or cook a portion specifically for this dish.
It's straightforward and delicious because the right spices set the tone for the entire snack. I serve it with pizza sauce, but garlic or BBQ sauce would also work well.
Ingredients:
- 7 oz of wavy pasta,
- 1 tablespoon of olive oil,
- 1 teaspoon of oregano,
- 1 teaspoon of granulated garlic,
- 1 teaspoon of sweet paprika,
- ⅓ cup of grated Parmesan,
- 2 oz of pizza sauce,
- parsley
Method:
Step 1. Cook the pasta in salted water according to the package instructions. I usually use wavy pasta, but smaller twists also work. Drain after cooking.
Step 2. Transfer the cooked pasta to a bowl. Add dried oregano, granulated garlic, sweet paprika, grated Parmesan, and olive oil, and mix well to ensure the pasta is evenly coated with all the ingredients.
Step 3. Place the pasta on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 365°F. Bake for about 15 minutes until the pasta chips are crispy. Transfer them to a large plate and serve with the sauce. Enjoy!
