In the appeal, published on Telegram in both Korean and Russian, it addressed the Korean People's Army soldiers sent to assist Putin's regime. "I Want to Live" emphasizes that Koreans should not die senselessly on foreign soil and follow the fate of hundreds of thousands of Russian soldiers who will never return home.
Surrender! Ukraine will shelter, feed, and warm you! Thousands of Russian soldiers have made the right choice and are now waiting for the end of the war in good conditions: comfortable barracks, three warm meals a day, medical care – was emphasized in the statement.
It was assured that Ukrainian prisoner camps are ready to accept soldiers "of any nationality, religion, and ideological beliefs."
North Korea sends soldiers to Ukraine
According to reports from the South Korean intelligence agency, last week North Korea sent about 1,500 special forces soldiers to Russia to support war efforts against Ukraine. There are also plans to send 12,000 soldiers from the elite special forces unit to Ukraine.
The "I Want to Live" project is a state initiative of the coordination staff for the treatment of prisoners of war, created with the support of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the Main Intelligence Directorate. It is aimed at Russian and Belarusian armed forces soldiers, encouraging them to surrender as prisoners of war.
