North Korean troops retreat from Kursk after heavy losses
North Korean soldiers have withdrawn from the front line in the Kursk region. This information is provided by the Ukrainian military. The Koreans suffered significant losses as a result of the clashes.
- The Russians are standing, working everywhere along the frontline, but no Koreans - a Ukrainian soldier with the pseudonym "Puls" tells Sky News. According to him, this situation has been ongoing for two weeks.
It is possible that the Koreans' withdrawal is related to the losses they suffered during the fighting. According to some estimates, even 4,000 soldiers were killed or wounded. At the same time, Ukrainians managed to intercept Russian messages indicating that the Koreans will return to the front.
Koreans do not want to be captured
"Puls" added that the Koreans do not want to be captured by the Ukrainians and sometimes blow themselves up with grenades. They also try to retrieve the bodies of fallen comrades.
According to the Ukrainians, soldiers from North Korea were surprised by what war looks like today. They were unaware of threats such as drones, for example. They moved in large groups, which made it easier to attack them.
"Puls" also points to the lack of coordination between the Russians and the Koreans due to the language barrier. In one instance, due to a misunderstanding, the Koreans were said to have struck Russian positions.
